Dr. Rajib Biswas

Dr. Rajib Biswas is a doctor, public health researcher, and software developer from Bangladesh. He is passionate about using research and innovation to advance maternal and child health.

Dr. Biswas earned his MBBS degree from Faridpur Medical College in 2017. He has been working at the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh ( icddr,b ) since January 2019, currently as a Research Investigator. He was initially hired as a Project Research Physician for the Child Health and Mortality Prevention Surveillance (CHAMPS) project. He was promoted to Study Physician in January 2019 and then to Research Investigator on March 1, 2021.

Dr. Biswas is a self-taught software developer who combines his medical background with his technical skills to bridge the gap between healthcare needs and technological solutions. He has developed multiple mobile and web applications to monitor patient progress, determine optimal dosing for newborns, and provide healthcare providers with user-friendly tools.

Education and Profession

Dr. Biswas completed his MBBS from Fridpur Medical College, Faridpur, Bangladesh in 2017, HSC (Higher Secondary School Certificate) from Noapara Government College in Jessore in 2011 and his SSC (Secondary School Certificate) from Noapara Model Secondary School in Jessore in 2009.

He joined icddr,b, a globally recognized health research organization, in 2019. His research primarily focuses on reducing maternal mortality, mitigating postpartum complications, and enhancing neonatal health outcomes. Dr. Biswas has been working with the CHAMPS project. He is also a member of the CHAMPS Analysis Forum since 2023.

Dr. Biswas has received training in research methodology, research ethics, data analysis, scientific writing, and clinical skills.

He is the author of several original articles, review articles, and conference abstracts.

Dr. Biswas has presented at several conferences, including the ASTMH Annual Meeting in 2021, 2022, and 2023, and the ISA 19th Annual Conference in 2024.

He has leadership experience in implementing modern systems in healthcare, training and mentorship, driving research and field activities, team building and strategic collaboration. Dr. Biswas describes himself as a visionary leader who is adaptable. He has teaching experience training physicians in minimally invasive tissue sampling (MITS), organizing workshops on research methodology and infection prevention and control (IPC), training physicians on obtaining informed consent, and mentoring in research and data analysis. His management skills include project management, team coordination and leadership, training and capacity building, resource management, stakeholder engagement, problem-solving, decision-making, and continuous improvement.

Dr. Biswas is proficient in Bengali and English.

Dr. Biswas has been self-learning programming languages and software development skills since high school. He is proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, R programming, SPSS, Stata, PHP, Javascript, HTML, CSS, Python, Dart, and database management using MySQL, SQLite, and NoSQL databases like Firebase. He also uses Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Canva for graphics and visualization. Dr. Biswas has experience with EndNote and Mendeley for reference management and is skilled in manuscript preparation. He also has experience troubleshooting and customizing software solutions. He worked as an IT Consultant at Faridpur Medical College Hospital from July 2022 to June 2023.
